Aadhar Updation Alert: New Rules for NRI’s

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made things easier for everyone by updating the Aadhaar rules. Now, you can change or get a new 12-digit Aadhaar number either online or offline. This change is part of the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Amendment Regulations, 2024, aimed at making things simpler.
You have two new forms to fill out: Form 1 is for people 18 and older, whether they are residents or non-resident Indians (NRIs), who want to get an Aadhaar number or update their information. Form 2 is specifically for NRIs with proof of an address outside India.
For kids of different ages, both residents and NRIs, there are Forms 3 to 6. These forms are designed for specific age groups and address proof requirements, making it easier for parents to enroll their children.
Now, you can update your information in the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR) by going to an enrolment center or using the website or mobile app. Unlike before, where only addresses could be updated online, you can now update various details using online forms and mobile apps.
Proof of age is a must, ensuring that Aadhaar cards have accurate birth dates. UIDAI allows enrollment based on document verification or confirmation by the Head of Family (HoF). NRIs need to provide an email ID for Aadhaar, and if a non-Indian mobile number is given, no SMS/text messages will be sent.
These changes make the Aadhaar process more user-friendly, whether you’re updating online or at an enrolment center.
