OTT bans Allu Arjun’s blockbuster film

Allu Arjun’s blockbuster movie Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, was released in theaters on January 13, 2020. The film was a huge success, outperforming Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru at the box office. It became one of the highest-grossing Telugu films and was the biggest non-Baahubali hit at the time. Trivikram and Allu Arjun had previously collaborated on Julayi and S/O Satyamurthy. After a gap, they delivered this entertaining family drama which became a massive hit.

Produced by Haarika & Hassine Creations and Geetha Arts, the movie was acquired by Netflix for digital streaming. Since 2020, it has been continuously available on the platform. However Netflix recently announced that Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo will no longer be available after February 27, 2025. This unexpected news disappointed fans as no Telugu movie had been streamed on a major OTT platform for such a long period.

While Netflix has removed the film, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo will still be available on Sun NXT, the official OTT platform of Sun TV Network. The satellite rights belong to Gemini TV, and viewers can watch it when it airs on television. The film featuring Pooja Hegde, Sachin Khedekar, Jayaram, Tabu and Murali Sharma was a career-defining success for Allu Arjun. The music by Thaman especially songs like Butta Bomma and Samajavaragamana became chartbusters.

After Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun is set to collaborate with Trivikram again. Their upcoming project is expected to be a socio-mythological fantasy marking Trivikram’s first film in this genre. Reports suggest the film might be titled God of War. Fans are eagerly waiting for more updates.
