Brahma Anandam review & rating: Not much fun, not much emotion

Brahma Anandam is the latest film from Swadharma Entertainment, a production house known for quality films. Directed by RVS Nikhil, this film introduces a new filmmaker to the Telugu industry. With the banner’s reputation, expectations were high. Let’s see how the movie fared.

Storyline
Brahma Anandam (Raja Goutham) dreams of becoming an actor. His girlfriend Tara (Priya Vadlamani) and friend Vennela Kishore support him in every way. A big opportunity comes his way but he needs six lakh rupees to seize it. His grandfather Anandarav Murthy (Brahmanandam) promises to help by selling his six-acre land and takes him to their village. However, an unexpected twist changes everything. What challenges do they face? Will Brahma achieve his dream? The answers lie in the film.

Analysis
Swadharma Entertainment has built a strong reputation making audiences hopeful for every new release. However, the initial buzz for this film was lower than expected. The first 40 minutes feel stretched, and the core plot takes time to unfold. Though the story is unique, some may question whether it required a full-length film. Fortunately, the humor helps keep the film engaging with some comedy and emotional scenes working well.

Brahmanandam’s role is a highlight, starting on an emotional note but including his signature comedy. Vennela Kishore also plays a significant role, bringing humor and energy to the film. The chemistry between Brahmanandam and Vennela Kishore is entertaining, but Raja Goutham struggles to shine alongside them. The veteran actors dominate the screen, leaving limited space for his performance.

Performances
Raja Goutham, who debuted with Pallakilo Pellikuthuru, has faced challenges in establishing himself. He took this film seriously, hoping it would boost his career. However, with Brahmanandam and Vennela Kishore commanding most of the scenes, his performance doesn’t leave a lasting impact.

However, the trend has changed over the years. Now Telugu movies are made once every two to three years and their success is often short-lived. Many theaters have shut down turning into commercial complexes or wedding halls.

Nowadays, most movies run for only a couple of weeks with high ticket prices ensuring profits for producers. However, theater owners are facing losses. Among recent Telugu films, one movie set an unusual record by running in theaters for just five days before completely vanishing.

Varun Tej’s Matka is the movie that made headlines for its shocking failure. Directed by Karuna Kumar and featuring Meenakshi Chaudhary as the heroine, the movie was released on November 14, 2024. Despite having actors like Naveen Chandra, Vennela Kishore, Ajay Ghosh, and Saloni, it failed to attract audiences.

On the fifth day, not a single ticket was sold across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This highlights the extent of the movie’s failure. The production was backed by Teegala Vijayender Reddy and Talluri Rajani but even their efforts could not save the film from becoming one of the biggest disasters in Telugu cinema.

‘పెళ్లి చూపులు’ సినిమాతో అందరకీ దగ్గరయ్యాడు ప్రియదర్శి. అందులోని తన కామెడీ టైమింగ్ కొత్తగా ఉండటంతో.. ప్రేక్షకులు బాగా కనెక్ట్‌ అయ్యారు. తర్వాత కొన్ని సినిమాల్లో ప్రధాన పాత్రలు చేశాడు. ‘మల్లేశం’తో హీరోగా నటించాడు. ‘బలగం’ సినిమా ప్రయదర్శికి మంచి పేరుతీసుకొచ్చింది. ఇటీవలే ‘ఓం భీమ్ భుష్’ సినిమాలో నటించాడు. ఈ సినిమాకి మంచి టాక్‌ వచ్చింది. ఇక ‘సేవ్‌ ది టైగర్స్’ వెబ్ సిరిస్ తో మంచి జోష్ లోకి వచ్చాడు. త్వరలో ‘డార్లింగ్’ సినిమాతో ప్రేక్షకులు ముందుకు రానున్నాడు.

సత్యం రాజేష్ ప్రధాన పాత్రలో నటించిన ‘పొలిమేర’ మూవీకి మంచి స్పందన వచ్చింది. ఆ సినిమా ఓటీటీలో విడులైంది. పొలిమేర 2 థియేట‌ర్ల‌లోకి వ‌చ్చి నిర్మాత‌ల‌కు లాభాలు మిగిల్చింది. నిజానికి తను మంచి టైమింగ్ వున్న ఆర్టిస్ట్. కామెడీతో పాటు అన్నీ భావాలు పలికించగలడు. అయితే సరైన విజయాలు లేక డల్‌ అయిన అతని కెరీర్ కి పొలిమేర ఫ్రాంచైజ్ జోష్ ఇచ్చింది. ఇప్పుడు ఆయన హీరోగా సినిమాలు రెడీ అవుతున్నాయి. ఈ మధ్య టెనెంట్ అనే సినిమా వచ్చింది. ఇంకొన్ని నిర్మాణ దశలో వున్నాయి.

వెన్నెల కిషోర్ కెరీర్ కూడా మంచి జోరులో వుంది. పెద్ద సినిమాల్లో కామెడీ పాత్రలకు ఆయన ఫస్ట్ ఛాయిస్. ఆయన కామెడీ టైమింగ్‌కి ప్రేక్షకులు ఫిదా అయిపోతారు. మరోపక్క హీరోగా కూడా సినిమాలు చేస్తున్నాడు. ఈ మధ్యే ఛార్లీ సినిమా చేశాడు. ఈ సినిమా థియేటర్స్ లో సరిగ్గా ఆడకపోయినప్పటికీ ఓటీటీ రేటు కిట్టుబాటైయిందని తెలుస్తోంది.

సప్తగిరి కమెడియన్‌గా మంచి గుర్తింపు తెచ్చుకున్నాడు. ఇప్పటికే హీరోగా టర్న్ తీసుకున్నాడు. జయాపజయాలు పక్కన పెడితే హీరోగా చేయడానికే మొగ్గు చూపుతున్నాడు. జబర్దస్త్ వేదికగా వచ్చిన హాస్యనటులు కూడా ఫుల్ బిజీగా వున్నారు. వేణు కూడా.. బలగం సినిమాతో దర్శకుడిగా మారాడు. ఈ మూవీ సూపర్‌ హిట్‌ కావడంతో.. హీరోనానితో సినిమా కోసం కథ సిద్ధం చేస్తున్నాడు.
