Veteran actor John Vijay who appeared in the movie “Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire” alongside Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran has been accused of sexual harassment by multiple women. Singer and voice actress Chinmayi Sripaada posted screenshots on social media where one of the victims referred to Vijay as a ‘menace.’

Despite feeling helpless, she pledged to keep praying until justice prevailed.

“May the entire ecosystem that promotes and supports sex offenders whilst incarcerating honest people who speak up start getting destroyed from this very moment, onwards and beyond. I ll pray and keep praying until my wish comes true – there is nothing else I can do anyway (sic),”Sripaada wrote.

On Monday, Stalin posted a video of the event where he and Chidambaram unveiled Vairamuthu’s book, and Kamal Hassan appeared happy in the background. Stalin wrote, “First day of the new year! For more than two and a half hours, it was filled with loving souls!”

In 2019, a year after Sripaada accused Vairamuthu of sexual harassment, she criticized the media for staying quiet about the matter. In June of the same year, the respected singer mentioned that she held multiple individuals accountable for protecting Vairamuthu.

“I’m holding so many people responsible for saving Vairamuthu. There are a few people in DMK who tried to help me, but in the end, their hands are also tied,” she said.

Sripaada had also reached out to Stalin, questioning the government’s silence on the matter. Seventeen women have accused Vairamuthu of harassment so far.

Hollywood star Patricia Clarkson has been roped in for Universal Pictures ‘She Said’, based on New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor’s best-selling book, ‘She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement’ which was on their journey of the award-winning investigation of the Harvey Weinstein sexual-assault story.

The Weinstein story broke out in 2017 and became the highest talking point that year, paving the way for the powerful #MeToo movement that rocked the world. Patricia Clarkson will play Rebecca Corbett, the New York Times’ investigations department editor who oversaw the reporters. The award-winning journalists, Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, are set to be played by multi-Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan. Rebecca Lenkiewicz has adapted the screenplay while Maria Schrader is directing.

In 2018, Annapurna Pictures and Plan B Entertainment optioned the rights to Harvey Weinstein’s assault story She Said under their co-production deal. Oscar nominee Megan Ellison will executive produce for Annapurna with Sue Naegle. Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner will produce for Plan B.

Singer-composer Anu Malik is being criticised on Twitter for allegedly plagiarising Israel’s national anthem titled ‘Hatikvah’ for his song ‘Mera Mulk Mera Desh’ from Ajay Devgn’s 1996 film Diljale. After Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat won Israel’s first-ever Olympic medal in artistic gymnastics, the country’s flag was raised and their national anthem was played. That’s when Indian twitter users sprung into action, and pointed out the similarities in the music.

“The National anthem tune has some familiarity to the Indian song.. Mera Mulk Mera Desh?? Or is it just me?,” wrote one Twitter user. Another user wrote: “Anu Malik just simply didn’t copy Israel’s national anthem in the 1996 film Diljale song. It needs years of research and analysis to find out which country isn’t going to win medals for years. Visionary man.” Twitter is also flooded with memes that take a dig at Malik. This is not the first time the music composer has been called out for plagiarism. The music composer, who faced sexual harassment allegations amid the MeToo movement, is back as judge on music reality show Indian Idol season 12.

Universal Pictures has announced the release date of their high profile Harvey Weinstein film ‘She Said’. It will open in theatres on November 18, 2022 amid the Thanksgiving and holiday season. The film stars Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan who play the two New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, whose landmark 2017 exposé helped bring down former mogul Harvey Weinstein who was later found guilty of sexually exploiting women for work in his films. He was accused by 100’s of women of different counts of sexual abuse, harassment and rape. Harvey Weinstein’s case opened a can of worms in Hollywood and then the rest of the world and started what is now popularly called the #MeToo movement.

‘She Said’ is directed by Maria Schrader from an adapted screenplay by Rebecca Lenkiewicz. It is based on Twohey and Kantor’s best-selling ‘She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement’. Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner’s Plan B is producing the film for Universal. Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle are executive producing for Annapurna Pictures.
