Shankar, who is known for his grand and visual style, has been facing a lot of criticism lately. His recent films like I and Indian 2 did not meet the expectations of many fans. After Indian 2, Shankar was heavily trolled on social media. His previous successes were quickly forgotten as people expressed disappointment. His upcoming film Indian 3 is also facing uncertainties and challenges.

Similarly, AR Murugadoss, who has been praised for making popular films with strong social messages, is now struggling to keep his place among the top directors. His recent work did not impress the audience as much as before.

Mani Ratnam, a director celebrated for his classic movies, recently joined this group after the release of Thug Life. The movie was released on Thursday and received very poor reviews. Many say it is the weakest film Mani Ratnam has made so far. Unlike before, when even his flops were not heavily criticized, Thug Life brought him into the spotlight for the wrong reasons.

Even Kamal Haasan, who co-produced Thug Life with Mani Ratnam and acted in it, faced strong backlash. The film became one of the biggest failures of the year, disappointing both fans and critics.

Ram Charan made a big mistake when he decided to work with Tamil director Shankar right after his huge success with the film RRR. Ram Charan’s Game Changer lands on a new OTT platform

Ram Charan’s latest political drama, Game Changer directed by Shankar Shanmugam, faced disappointment at the box office despite high expectations. However, the film has now secured a new OTT platform for its Hindi release.

The movie, starring Kiara Advani, is already available on Amazon Prime Video in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. However, the Hindi version was not part of this deal, leaving fans curious about its digital release. Now ZEE5 has acquired the streaming rights for the Hindi version which will premiere on March 7, 2025.

Apart from Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, Game Changer features a strong supporting cast, including SJ Suryah, Sunil, Samuthirakani, Anjali and Srikanth. Produced by Dil Raju with music composed by Thaman, the film was made on a grand scale but did not perform as expected in theaters. It remains to be seen how the Hindi version will be received on OTT.

RC16: Can Buchi Babu Handle a Star Like Ram Charan:

Ram Charan dedicated three years to Game Changer directed by Shankar. However, the film failed to meet expectations leaving both the star and his fans disappointed. Now, Charan has shifted his focus to his next project, RC16 directed by Buchi Babu Sana known for Uppena.

This film is being produced on a grand scale by Venkat Satish Kilaru in collaboration with the Mythri Movie Makers banner. Janhvi Kapoor has been cast as the female lead, while A.R. Rahman is composing the music. Reports suggest that Rahman has already completed three songs for the film.

Aiming for a Pan-India Success

There is speculation that RC16 could establish Ram Charan as a solo pan-India hero. However, some doubt whether Buchi Babu Sana can handle a project of this scale. While Uppena became a hit due to its emotional climax, it did not have a particularly strong storyline. Despite this, Buchi Babu’s storytelling skills were well appreciated, and he plans to apply the same formula to RC16.

Set against a sports backdrop, the film reportedly revolves around a weakness in Charan’s character which plays a crucial role in the story. The climax is expected to be a major highlight aiming to leave a lasting impact on the audience.

Unlike Uppena, which starred newcomers and had minimal expectations, RC16 is a high-stakes project. With Ram Charan’s massive fan base and industry buzz, expectations are sky-high. Additionally, according to Charan’s PR team, there are external challenges that could affect the film’s success.

For RC16 to be a blockbuster, it needs more than just a powerful climax. Strong writing, engaging storytelling and outstanding direction are essential for Charan to make a solid comeback. Sankranthi films 2025 end report: 

The Sankranthi festive season has come to an end, and people in the Telugu states are returning to their daily routines. However, the excitement in the theaters continued, with Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunnam becoming the biggest hit of this Pongal.

Directed by Anil Ravipudi, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam was the final release during the festive period but stood out as the clear winner. The family entertainer received a positive response from audiences and earned over Rs. 131 crores in just four days. It also broke even in all regions, with expectations of generating significant profits for everyone involved by the weekend.

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj secured second place in the race. Directed by Bobby Kolli, the film grossed more than 100 crores at the box office. Within six days of its release, it had recovered 82% of its cost, and it’s expected to hit the breakeven point by the weekend.

On the other hand, Game Changer, the most anticipated film, turned out to be a disappointment. The film earned a gross of Rs. 170 crores and a share of Rs. 88 crores, falling far short of its target. It needed to earn over 220 crores to break even, meaning it resulted in a loss of over 130 crores. However, the success of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam provided some relief to producer Dil Raju, who had produced both films. He was able to recover some of the losses from Game Changer thanks to the blockbuster performance of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam.

Overall, while some films were successful, others faced challenges, but the festive season still offered an exciting cinematic experience for the Telugu audience.
