Actor Srikanth Marriage Dispute Resurfaces Amid Drug Case
Tamil actor Srikanth, known for his roles in South Indian cinema, is now facing serious legal issues. He was recently arrested by the Greater Chennai Police in connection with a drug case. According to reports, Srikanth is in judicial custody until July 7 as the investigation continues. Police say that medical tests confirmed the use of cocaine, which led to his detention after long hours of questioning.
Public Focus Shifts to Personal Life
Along with the drug case, the actor’s personal life is now being discussed in public again. Srikanth is married to Vandana Srikanth, an MBA graduate from Australia and the daughter of a well-known industrialist. The couple tied the knot on September 7, 2008, and they have two children together.
However, their marriage had a controversial beginning. Initially, both families agreed to the relationship, but Srikanth’s parents later objected when they came to know that Vandana’s family was involved in some land dispute cases. This led Srikanth’s parents to withdraw their approval for the marriage.
Despite this, Srikanth and Vandana went ahead and registered their marriage, reportedly with her family’s support but without informing his parents. Later, Srikanth shocked many by publicly denying the marriage. He claimed that it had never been consummated and said he had agreed to a register marriage hoping his parents would eventually accept it.
Allegations and Police Protection
Srikanth also alleged that Vandana came to his house with some threatening people, which forced him to seek police protection for himself and his family. This created a lot of buzz and tension at the time.
The Couple Reconciles
Eventually, the matter was taken to court and counselling sessions were held. After going through legal processes, the couple decided to stay together and continue their marriage. Since then, they have mostly stayed away from the media and kept their family life private.
Srikanth’s Career in Films
Srikanth, now 46, has acted in over 50 films in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam languages. Some of his famous films include Roja Kootam, Parthiban Kanavu and Nanban. Though he hasn’t appeared much on screen recently, he remains a recognized name in the South Indian film industry.
As of now, the drug investigation is ongoing. Srikanth and his family have not yet given any official statement about the current developments.
