An arrest warrant without the possibility of bail has been issued against RK Selvamani, the spouse of AP Tourism Minister Roja, following his involvement in a defamation lawsuit.
This legal action stems from RK Selvamani’s failure to attend a court hearing, resulting in the issuance of a non-bailable warrant by the Chennai George Town court. Digging into the particulars, film financier Mukanchand Bothra was apprehended in 2006 under separate charges.
In a televised interview, RK Selvamani stated that he had encountered difficulties due to financier Mukanchand. Subsequently, Mukanchand filed a defamation case against Selvamani, asserting that his public reputation suffered as a consequence of Selvamani’s statement on television.
Despite Mukanchand’s passing, his son Gagan Bothra, vested with Power of Attorney, has persisted in pursuing the legal battle. In light of RK Selvamani’s absence from the court proceedings on August 28, 2023, the court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him.
