Bangladesh ‘Tree Man’ condition worsens

Abul Bajandar dubbed as a Bangladeshi “Tree Man” because of the condition of bark-like growths on his hands and body is back to the hospital after his condition worsened.  Abdul suffers from epidermodysplasia verruciformis making grow bark like gnarled stuff encapsulating his hand.  In 2016, he went 26 operations to get it remove, while doctors and Abdul himself thought he is free of it, it came back again haunting him.

The 28-year-old  rickshaw puller reportedly skipped his appointment following which the regrowth started again. Disappointed over this, he says, “I made a mistake by leaving the hospital,” adding “I sought alternative treatment but could not find any. I now understand I should have stayed and continued the treatment.”

“The growths have sprouted even in new parts of my feet and hands. I made a mistake leaving the hospital, but I hope doctors will be able to cure me fully this time,” Bajandar adds. Doctor Samanta Lal Sen treating Abdul says that they have to operate Abdul from the beginning stage again and require to conduct more surgeries.
