Beards: Redefining Heroic Looks in South Indian Movies

Beards Redefining Heroic Looks in South Indian Movies

In South Indian movies, the idea of a good-looking hero has changed a lot. Before, most Tollywood heroes were seen with clean faces and no mustache. Stars like NTR, ANR, Shobhan Babu, Krishna, Chiranjeevi, and Balakrishna followed this style and entertained their fans. Only a few, like Kamal Haasan, tried different looks. But generally, actors didn’t change their appearance unless the story needed it. However, in today’s movies, having a beard has become popular for actors, no matter how famous they are.

Movies like “Rangasthalam” with Ram Charan, “Pushpa” with Allu Arjun, “KGF” with Yash, and others have made having a beard trendy.

New actors like Vishwak Sen and Karthikeya are also doing the same. Even actors like Mahesh Babu and Nikhil, who usually didn’t have beards, sported them in movies like “Takkari Donga” and “Arjun Suravaram.”

This change shows how much having a beard has become linked to looking heroic. This trend is not only in one language but in many South Indian movie industries. Actors like Dhanush, Mammootty, and Mohanlal have also successfully accepted this change. Before, people judged a man’s character based on whether he had a beard or not. But now, directors are creating characters that look more real and relatable on screen. So, heroes are changing their style to match what today’s audience likes.
