Naresh, a senior actor, was facing legal action from his estranged wife, Ramya Raghupati, over his movie ‘Malli Pelli.’ She claimed that the film, along with its Kannada version ‘Matte Maduve,’ drew inspiration from their personal life and sought to halt its release.
However, on August 1, the City Civil Court in Bengaluru dismissed the case, stating that the films were entirely fictional, as confirmed by the censor board. The court ruled that private individuals have no basis to obstruct the release of a movie once the censor board has certified it as fictional.
The court also granted an injunction against Ramya entering Naresh’s residence, along with his family members. The court concluded that Naresh and Ramya had been living separately for the past six years, thus paving the way for their divorce. This verdict has brought a significant turning point in the legal disputes between the two parties.
It is worth noting that Ramya had previously taken legal action against Naresh and his partner, Pavitra Lokesh, for domestic violence. In response, Naresh presented evidence to the court that anonymous individuals allegedly associated with Ramya were causing significant disturbances and anxiety to him and his elderly family members. Naresh also countered with a case against Ramya, accusing her of involvement in cyber malware and cyber-attacks.
Overall, the court’s verdicts have resolved the conflicts between the two parties and allowed for the film’s release.
