Indian 2: Makers Demand Rs 75 Crores for Telugu Rights

Indian 2 Makers Demand Rs 75 Crores for Telugu Rights

Lyca Productions, the renowned Kollywood production house, is reportedly seeking a staggering sum of Rs 75 crores for the Telugu rights of their highly anticipated epic ‘Indian 2,’ setting a new benchmark in the industry. Industry insiders have labeled this demand as the highest price ever quoted for a Tamil film in recent times. The film’s creators seem to have great confidence in the powerful combination of Kamal Haasan and director Shankar, believing it will generate an exceptional opening in the Telugu market.

Intriguingly, ‘Indian,’ the predecessor of ‘Indian 2,’ was released in Telugu as ‘Bharateeyudu’ during the 1990s, and it created waves at the box office in the two Telugu states. The narrative of a freedom fighter turned vigilante’s crusade against corruption resonated deeply with the Telugu audience. “It was one of the most significant blockbusters for both Kamal Haasan and director Shankar, and now they intend to recreate the magic after two decades,” one source highlights.

Accompanying this demand for Telugu rights, the film’s latest promotional material, titled ‘Indian 2 Intro,’ provides a glimpse into the intense anticipation across the nation for the sequel. The teaser reintroduces Kamal Haasan as ‘Indian,’ showcasing the actor in various striking appearances.

The teaser commences with a scarcely recognizable Kamal Haasan, making a phone call from a distant country while incognito as a well-dressed man with greying hair and a mustache. In a powerful sequence, he sternly warns corrupt politicians and bureaucrats in the country, setting the stage for a much-anticipated cinematic experience.
