In a theatrical landscape brimming with competition, the recently released horror-comedy, “Chandramukhi 2,” featuring Kangana Ranaut and Raghava Lawrence in leading roles, has emerged as a box office sensation. This spine-tingling cinematic delight has captivated audiences and achieved remarkable box office success, crossing the impressive milestone of Rs 28 crore in India. Despite facing stiff competition from other recent releases like “The Vaccine War” and “Fukrey 3,” the film has held its ground, reaffirming its undeniable appeal to viewers.

Directed by P. Basu, “Chandramukhi 2” stands as the much-anticipated sequel to the 2005 blockbuster “Chandramukhi,” which originally starred Rajinikanth and Jyotika. While the sequel continues to thrill theatergoers, it has now ventured into the digital domain by securing a significant deal for its OTT (Over-The-Top) streaming rights.

The narrative of “Chandramukhi 2” revolves around a man who becomes the owner of the haunted Vettaiyan Palace, subsequently renting it to a wealthy family. Their journey to the ancestral village to perform a ritual unwittingly leads to the release of the vengeful spirit of Chandramukhi.

Kangana Ranaut takes on the titular role of Chandramukhi, while Raghava Lawrence showcases his mastery in dual characters as Pandiyan and Vettaiyan. The film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Lakshmi Menon, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Mahima Nambiar, Srushti Dange, Rao Ramesh, and Subiksha Krishnan. Remarkably, “Chandramukhi 2” has made its presence felt in various Indian languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Following its theatrical release on September 28, 2023, “Chandramukhi 2” swiftly garnered accolades from both audiences and critics. Now, reports have surfaced indicating that the digital streaming giant, Netflix, has secured the OTT rights to the film for a staggering sum of Rs 8 crore.

Having tasted success during its theatrical journey, “Chandramukhi 2” is all set to make its digital debut approximately 6-8 weeks after its cinematic voyage. Audiences can eagerly anticipate its online premiere, scheduled for either mid-November or early December.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming project, “Tejas,” is generating considerable excitement. The film’s creators unveiled a special teaser, providing a tantalizing sneak peek into Kangana’s portrayal of a military aviator. Slated for a theatrical release on October 27, 2023, with the trailer set to be exclusively revealed on Indian Air Force Day, October 8, “Tejas” promises to deliver a compelling and unforgettable cinematic experience.
