Though her debut as a lead star was in 2013 only, the first time she appeared on the big screen was way back in 2000, in the Rajiv Anchal directorial movie Pilots. This movie was produced by her father under the banner Revathi Kalamandir. As a child artist, she acted in only three films; the other two being Achaneyanenikishtam and Kuberan. Later she moved on to the mini screen and acted in two TV serials, Santhana Gopalam (2004) and Krishna Kripa Sagaram (2005). After which she focused on her studies and took a break from acting. Later, during her last year of degree, Priyadarshan asked her to be the leading lady in his horror flick Geethanjali (2013) starring. As per the director, he tricked Keerthy’s father Suresh Kumar into agreeing to let her act. Keerthy did the shooting for the same during her summer break. Her first role itself was a double role and she shared screen space with Mohanlal, but these factors couldn’t help the movie from being a flop at the box office. Even her performance ended up receiving mixed reviews, thus, her career didn’t get a desired lift off. After completing her course, she came back into the acting arena and signed a movie with Dileep in the 2014 release ‘Ring Master’ featured her as the visually challenged leading lady. The movie was a super hit and thus becoming the big break of her career. Audiences loved her as the blind girl and she won a lot of applauds. Incidentally, Dileep was the hero in her last movie as a child artist.

Riding on the success of ‘Ring Master’, Keerthy diverts her career into Tamil. Her first project in Tamil was the AL Vijay directed 2015 movie Idhu Enna Mayam, but her recognition in Kollywood came through Sivakarthikeyan starrer 2016 movie Rajini Murugan. The movie was a big time hit and Keerthy rose to fame among Tamil audience. She was highly appreciated for her performance. Interestingly, her role in this movie was first offered to Nazriya Nazim, then to Samantha, then Lakshmi Menon and finally landed up with Keerthy. The movie was her first signed Tamil film but due to production and post-production delays, it was released as her second film.

Following this, she made her Telugu debut in the 2016 movie Nenu Sailaja as the title character. The movie and her performance won the hearts of the audience. By now, she had become one among the top actresses in Tamil. She got to be Dhanush’s lady- love in Thodari (2016), which ended up getting mixed to negative reviews. Then came the biggest hit of her career, so far, Remo (2016) where she was again paired with Sivakarthikeyan. Even before the release of this film, she was confirmed as the female lead in Vijay starrer Bhairava. In 2017, she appeared in the Telugu film Nenu Local and the Tamil films Bairavaa and Pambhu Sattai. She began the year 2018 with two big releases in January, one in Telugu and one in Tamil, namely Agnyaathavaasi and Thaanaa Serndha Koottam’ opposite Pawan Kalyan and Suriya respectively.

She also has a number of releases lined up for 2018. Her film Mahanati opposite Dulquer Salman will see her Portraying one of the greatest southern actresses, Savitri. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is an epic biographical drama starring Samantha.
