Kubera Review and Rating: Dhanush Delivers a Career-Defining Role

Director Sekhar Kammula known for his feel-good films takes a bold turn with Kubera. This time, he explores the world of scams, poverty, and transformation, blending emotion with a socially relevant message. Let’s see how this ambitious film holds up.
Story:
Kubera revolves around Deepak (Nagarjuna), a CBI officer who plans a massive scam using beggars as benami holders. His idea is to manipulate a ₹1 lakh crore scandal involving the ultra-rich. Among the beggars is Deva (Dhanush), who plays a major role in turning the tables. As the plot unfolds, Deva challenges the corrupt system, bringing justice in an unexpected way.
Performances:
Nagarjuna delivers a mature and subtle performance, fitting perfectly into his role. His composed body language and controlled dialogue delivery are praiseworthy. Dhanush, however, steals the show. His portrayal of a physically challenged beggar is both intense and authentic. Rashmika Mandanna has a decent screen presence but lacks depth. Jim Sarbh, Sayaji Shinde, and Sunaina offer solid support.
Technical Aspects:
Music by Devi Sri Prasad enhances the film’s emotional tone. While the songs are more effective on-screen than standalone, the background score is outstanding. Niketh Bommi’s cinematography gives the film a realistic feel, and the visuals remain rich throughout. Editing by Karthika Srinivas could have been tighter — the film feels stretched at times. Production values are top-notch, with a high-quality finish visible in every frame.
