Dr. Manmohan Singh, a highly respected figure in Indian politics, served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. Before assuming this role, he was instrumental in shaping India’s economy as the Finance Minister under Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. His visionary economic reforms played a key role in transforming India into a rapidly growing global economy.

In 2018, Dr. Manmohan Singh filed his nomination for a Rajya Sabha seat, declaring assets worth ₹15.77 crore. This included residential properties in Delhi and Chandigarh, reflecting his prudent financial management. Notably, Singh had no outstanding debts, underscoring his integrity and careful financial planning.

His income for the financial year 2018-19 was approximately ₹90 lakh. According to an earlier affidavit, his Chandigarh and Delhi flats were valued at ₹7.27 crore over a decade ago, with their worth increasing significantly since then. Singh also had ₹3.46 crore in bank deposits and investments, cash of ₹30,000, and jewelry worth ₹3.86 lakh. Additionally, he maintained ₹12.76 lakh in a Postal Saving Scheme.

Dr. Singh also owned a modest Maruti 800 car, further highlighting his simplicity and humility, despite his influential political stature.

Born on September 26, 1932, in the Punjab province of pre-partition India, Dr. Singh’s journey began with his matriculation from Panjab University in 1948. He pursued higher education at Cambridge University, earning a first-class honors degree in economics in 1957. Later, he completed his DPhil in economics at Oxford University in 1962.

Dr. Manmohan Singh is married to Gursharan Kaur, and the couple has three daughters. Known for his reserved demeanor and intellectual prowess, Singh remains a revered leader who prioritized economic stability and ethical governance throughout his career.
