Manoj Bajpai wraps up 26 years in films

It is a great feat indeed. The Telugu audiences had begun to know him better only after Satya’s release which is the high point in his career. It also became a game changer. Coming from Bihar at the age of 18 to Delhi to do theatre hoping to become an actor in Mumbai, he did Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen and then sat at home doing nothing when Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya happened. Till then he was financially and emotionally broke. Why just him? It would be a high point for any struggling actor.

Now after many years, he is being identified as an actor of Family Man. It is a resurgence and how! The OTT is a very new medium, he remembers doing a couple of short films for YouTube and that’s when he realized that this is the future. Responding to the landmark achievement, he states in a media interview, “Because of the lockdown the OTT has hit a peak. Audiences are watching all sorts of content, even the ones they don’t find interesting. They see everything and post ruthlessly honest views on social media. The OTT has the advantage of the lockdown. It has become a strong alternative for entertainment in India.”
