So much is being said about Uppena from the day one of its launch. With a mammoth hype, the film is out and read our review to know whether the film reached its hype or not.
Plot
The film is set in the small town of Uppada. Aaservadam played by Vaishnav Tej falls in love with a rich girl called Baby(Kriti Shetty). Like in many stories, the dad(Vijay Sethupati) hates this and becomes an issue. How will the couple solve all their issues is the story of Uppena.
Performances
So much is expected from Vijay Sethupati but he is not in his best in the film. He does not have much to do and is made a scapegoat by the end. The dubbing for his voice is dull. Vaishnav Tej has amazing eyes and he uses them to full credit with this film. He has good talent in acting and will be a good actor. Kriti Shetty is no less and leads the show in the film. The film is started and ended with her and Kriti kills it in the climax with her emotional performance.
Analysis
Uppena is the story of a rich girl falling for a lower caste guy. This is shown well from the beginning of the film nicely. The director brings in the romance in a beautiful manner and all the romantic scenes between the lead pair and songs are just too good to see on screen.
The interval point and they way characters are set in tense mode looks good. But things start to falter from there. The couple elopea and this is a big drawback and feels like you are watching the same old films. The drama is missing and things pick up only in the climax.
So all that happens in between is dull and boring. DSP is the winner of this film as his music is the one which makes the show run. in a nutshell, Uppena does not live up to the crazy hype but has enough meat to make it a passble watch if you love youthful dramas with good starcast.
