Samanyudu Review

Vishal’s Samanyudu is the only Telugu release that came this week. Read our review to find out if the film has any justice in it or not.

Plot

Porus(Vishal) is a wannabe cop who spends a normal life. His dad is also a cop who is not serious in his job. One fine day, Porus’ sister Dwaraka gets killed and Porus’s life changes upside down. He sets on a mission to find out the culprits who killed his sister. Did he manage to do so and what happened to his ambition is the story of Samanyudu.

Performances

Vishal is like a one-man army in the film and he carries the film on his shoulders. There is nothing new that he showcases acting-wise, but in the action department, he does not disappoint. Dimple Hayathi has a few moments in the first half, which portrays her as a strong woman. Raveena Ravi playing the sister role is good. Thulasi is wasted playing the inconsequential mom.

Analysis

Samanyudu is a regular revenge drama to start off. There is nothing much that happens in the first half and only the sister’s track keeps us entertained to an extent.

The whole track involving the wrong activities of police points towards it. However, it takes a lot of time to come back to that planting in the story. It follows a predictable path until the pre-interval and ends on the same routine note. It is the brief pre-interval block in between that is good.

Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music is forgettable. However, he makes up for it with his background score. It is suitable for the most part. The film is made on a good scale and that is visible on screen. There are also not many emotional moments in the film that stand out as well.

In a way, you have seen Vishal playing such roles in the past. The only difference is the setting and apart from that, there is nothing that this film offers.

Bottom Line – Routine and nothing new
