From a past few months, director Nag Ashwin is working on the biopic of legendary actress Savitri. Nag Ashwin had earlier directed Nani’s Yevade Subramanyam. The film is in pre-production stages right now and it has been titled as Mahanati. This movie will be produced by Ashwini Dutt. The hunt for the actress is going on since a long time and many names like Vidya Balan and Nitya Menen were reported by the media. Recently, it was heard that Samantha will reprise the role of Savitri.
But the latest reports suggest that Samantha is the narrator of this film and Savitri’s story will be shown from her character’s perspective. This is an interesting narrative chosen by the director. This also means that the makers are yet to finalize the actress for the lead role. Meanwhile, this film is expected to go on the floors during early 2017.
