Among the Diwali releases, only Tamil dubbing Sarkar is the only one which is a hit. The film had lot of pre-release hype due to Murugadoss’ branding. Due to this, Vijay got his first big hit in Telugu. Though the film was sold at rates higher than Vijay’s market rate. But, the film began earning profits within a week. In Tamil, the film is already counted among the biggest box-office grossers.
But, Thugs of Hindostan, which was released amid the huge hype, disappointed everyone. The film has an ensemble cast like Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif and had a budget of over Rs 200 crore. The film was set in the pre-independence period. But, the film bombed at the box office and is now counted among the rarest flops for Aamir Khan.
Ravi Babu’s Adhugo ended up as a disaster. The film, which had a piglet as the main lead, bombed badly. The film did not get even minimum collections. Even Chaitu’s Savyasachi ended up as a flop. This Chandu Mondeti film is the first ever flop for producers Mythri Movie Makers.
