In recent times, various actors and politicians have engaged in controversial remarks, with some Tamil figures resorting to inappropriate comments about women.

Actor Mansoor Khan faced criticism for mentioning a missed rape scene with star heroine Trisha Krishna. Now, a Tamilnadu politician, AV Raju, has made shocking allegations against Salem West MLA G Venkatachalam, invoking Trisha’s name in the process.

In those remarks, he talked about actresses who are willing to have relationships with politicians, mentioning Trisha’s name and other actresses. As the Tamil video became widely popular, many users sought Trisha’s response, leading to the rise of the hashtag #WeSupportTrisha.

Trisha eventually addressed the politician’s comments without directly naming him. She expressed her dismay, stating, “It’s disgusting to repeatedly see low lives and despicable human beings who will stoop down to any level to gain attention.” Trisha assured that necessary and severe action would be taken, emphasizing that her legal department would handle future statements.

“It’s disgusting to repeatedly see low lives and despicable human beings who will stoop down to any level to gain attention. Rest assured, necessary and severe action will be taken. Anything that needs to be said and done henceforth will be from my legal department (sic)”, Trisha posted on X, formerly Twitter, thus giving a warning

The incident highlights a concerning trend of individuals making inappropriate remarks about women in the public eye.

In a society where public figures wield significant influence, it is crucial to uphold standards of decency and respect. Instances like these also draw attention to the broader issue of objectification of women, prompting a collective call for change.
