Why Chris Martin said Jai Shri Ram at Coldplay’s Mumbai concert?
Coldplay began their India tour with an exciting concert in Mumbai. The concert took place at DY Patil Stadium on Saturday evening. The British band led by Chris Martin gave an amazing performance that fans will never forget.
They performed many popular songs, such as Fix You and A Sky Full of Stars. The stadium was beautifully decorated with bright lights, elaborate designs and confetti cannons. These created a magical atmosphere for everyone in the crowd.
Chris Martin surprised the audience by speaking in Hindi. After finishing one of the songs, he thanked the crowd by saying, “Shukriya.” Later, he surprised everyone again when he said, “Jai Shri Ram.”
Martin had noticed a placard in the audience that said “Jai Shri Ram.” He read the message out loud, and the crowd cheered loudly. He then asked the audience what the phrase meant.
Before the concert, Chris Martin visited the Shri Babulnath Temple in Mumbai. He was with his partner, actress Dakota Johnson. Both of them wore traditional Indian clothes during their visit to the temple.
The concert also excited cricket fans in the audience. During one of the final songs, Chris Martin mentioned India’s famous bowler, Jasprit Bumrah. He said, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage.”
Martin then added, “He says he needs to bowl at me now.” When the crowd heard Bumrah’s name, they cheered loudly. Many fans thought Bumrah would come on stage, but he did not appear.
Chris Martin’s mention of Bumrah made cricket fans very happy. Bumrah had recently been named Player of the Series in the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He took 32 wickets in the five-match series against Australia. Bumrah also captained the Indian team in the first and final Test matches.
The concert in Mumbai was organized by BookMyShow Live. Coldplay is set to perform again in Mumbai on January 21. This concert is part of their Music of the Spheres tour.
Fans will remember this concert for a long time, as it brought together music and cricket in a way that made the event even more special.
