Why is NIA stepping in to probe SSR case?

This good news is for those who want a clean-up of Bollywood and the rest of the country. The Central Government has given permission to the NIA to investigate drug related cases.  P Muralidhar Rao, a national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said that there is a scope for widening the investigation into the alleged suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput by involving the National Investigation Authority (NIA). He said “web of networks” is emerging in this case.  “Entire India and Indians all over are watching keenly – intensively and emotionally, Whoever is helping & contributing for this is not fighting for #JusticeForSSR but also – helping the clean Bollywood movement. After @KanganaTeam’s tweet to @PMOIndia, #JusticeforSSR & Clean Bollywood are now getting into one big-movement Swachha Bollywood…Swachha Bharat…” he tweeted. Referring to the tweets, a senior party functionary said the BJP’s demand for a thorough probe is aimed at getting the “underbelly” of the film industry exposed.

Why is NIA stepping in to probe SSR case“Now there is talk of drugs and links to narcotics traders, which is a serious issue and needs to be exposed since there are links between international drug cartels and the terror industry. The idea is to uncover the truth and clean up the industry,” said the functionary. NIA was originally formed to investigate issues related to terrorism. However, terrorist organizations are also said to be involved in the purchase and sale of drugs. Now that the agency is allowed to investigate drug cases, this agency can also join the investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case as the drug connections of Bollywood people are coming out in this case. In fact, the NIA has been allowed to investigate drug cases on Tuesday itself. The NIA was formed after the serial blasts in Mumbai in 2008 to investigate cases related to terrorism. After this, the NIA was also found to be investigating the cases of human trafficking, fake notes and cyber terrorism last year. Now the agency has got the freedom to investigate drug cases as well.
