A very weak Summer for Telugu Cinema!

The summer season hasn’t been a good one for Telugu Cinema, this year. Last year, it had three releases that became blockbusters like Rangasthalam, Bharat Ane Nenu and Mahanati.

Few other films could secure good initials to keep cash registers at Theatres busy. But this time around things have changed drastically. Except for Maharshi, none of the films had grand openings.

Majili did click and become a blockbuster but it collected close to 40 crores share only, which is not that high for distributors to be ecstatic about entire Summer. Maharshi managed to become an Average grosser even though Mahesh believes otherwise.

Chitralahari did not lose money and Nani’s Jersey barely recovered. Allu Sirish’s ABCD and Kajal Aggarwal’s Sita failed at the box office already. Now, people want a good entertainer to forget the stress of work and survive the heat wave.

But our filmmakers seem to have no answers as no recognisable hero has any release until July end. This Summer seems to be ending like this year’s Sankranthi with grave disappointment unless Suriya’s NGK proves to be a money spinner.
