Adah Sharma has made her mark in Telugu cinema over the years. In “C.D Criminal or Devil,” she stars opposite Vishwant under the direction of Krishna Annam, with SSCM Productions backing the film. The movie hit theaters today. Let’s delve into how it stands.

Story:

Siddu (Vishwant) finds himself home alone while his grandparents visit their village. His solitude is intermittently broken by the maid (Jabardast Rohini). Siddu, who has a profound fear of ghosts, becomes terrified after watching a horror movie titled “Devil,” convinced that the ghost from the film is after him. Meanwhile, a psychotic woman named Raksha (Adah Sharma) is on a spree, kidnapping girls and spreading fear. Despite police efforts to capture her, she continues her rampage. Eventually, Raksha targets Siddu and infiltrates his home. The story unfolds as we discover the true source of Siddu’s fears, Raksha’s motives, the real kidnapper of the girls, and how the police plan to solve the case.

Performances

Adah Sharma delivers a stellar performance as Raksha, bringing fear and excitement through her intense portrayal. Vishwant shows his versatility, making his character a standout. Rohini provides comic relief, while Bharani impresses as a determined police officer. However, the remaining cast fails to make a significant impact.

Analysis

Director Krishna Annam introduces an innovative concept, blending horror, suspense, comedy, and thrill into the narrative. The movie’s confined setting may make the story seem static, but the gripping and frightening elements keep it engaging. While some scenes may initially appear illogical, their relevance becomes clear by the end, with the interval marking a particularly engaging point.

The second half introduces a romantic angle between the hero and heroine, maintaining entertainment with Rohini’s comedic scenes. The twist at the end, especially the revelation about the missing girls, is executed effectively, surprising the audience.

The music significantly enhances the film’s atmosphere, adding to the suspense and fear. The cinematography is commendable, and the editing is sharp. Shot in limited locations, the film provides a good return on investment for the producer, making it well-suited for OTT platforms.
