We are already aware that maverick director Mani Ratnam is now working on the period drama Ponniyin Selvan which is based on the epic Tamil novel of the same name. The shoot of this film will kickstart in Thailand by the end of October or in early November.
Apparently, Mani offered a pivotal role of star heroine Anushka in this multistarrer film. Initially, even the actress was interested in doing it but she opted out of the project in the last minute when she realized that writer Vairamuthu is also working for the film. A lot of sexual allegations were put on this writer last year.
Indirectly condemning his acts, Anushka decided to opt-out of this big film. Having no other choice left, Mani is now looking for another actress. Ponniyin Selven also features other stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi and Trisha.
