Anushka Shetty follows Allu Arjun’s controversial path

Anushka Shetty is set to star in a new film, Ghaati, which is drawing comparisons to Allu Arjun’s hit film Pushpa due to its similar genre and theme. Directed by Krish, Ghaati features Anushka as a ganja (cannabis) smuggler, a tribal woman caught in both personal and professional struggles. Like Allu Arjun’s portrayal of a red sandalwood smuggler in Pushpa, Anushka’s character in Ghaati is expected to rise to power, dealing with various challenges along the way.

The film also carries an element of revenge, making it even more intriguing for the audience. Ghaati will be released as a pan-India film, much like Pushpa, and will be available in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film’s release date is set for April 18, 2024.

It’s known that while Pushpa was a massive box office success, it sparked several controversies around its portrayal of smuggling and the glorification of criminal elements. Allu Arjun, who played the lead role, became the subject of both praise and criticism. Now, with Anushka Shetty stepping into a similar role in Ghaati, it remains to be seen whether the film will face similar controversies. Fans are eager to see if Anushka’s portrayal of a female gangster will be as well-received as Allu Arjun’s iconic role.

The success of Pushpa has set a high bar for films with similar themes and it remains to be seen if Ghaati will strike a similar chord with audiences. Fans are eagerly waiting to see if Anushka’s performance will be as impactful as the characters in Pushpa, further solidifying her place in Indian cinema.
