The Tollywood industry’s stake is at risk after Siri Reddy’s allegations on casting couch shook up the Telugu cinema. While many are yet to come to terms with the mud-slinging going on in the industry, another noted figure has come up with her unpleasant tale on sexual exploitation.
Lyricist Shreshta Speaks On Casting Couch
Lyricist Shreshta who shot to fame with Pelli Choopulu and Arjun Reddy spoke about her harrowing experience. Shreshta revealed that one of the noted producer’s wife asked him to satisfy her husband’s demand by having a sexual encounter. She also narrated another harrowing experience, adding that one woman director forced her to satisfy a man who wanted to propose her and wanted to throw a lavish party for her, to which Shreshta said, “I was helpless. I warned them strongly and left the industry for a few months.”
She further added that it hampered her career and purposely left the industry for few months. “I had to postpone my career because of a few bad experiences. Many people have openly suggested to me that I won’t be able to make a name for myself in the industry only with my writing. I have learned over the years that it’s not just men but also women who unabashedly perpetuate such things,” she said.
