Primi Minister Narendra Modi meeting with cinestars on October 19 is doing the rounds on social media. Modi met the personalities to discuss the initiatives to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The pictures and video doing the rounds had who’s who of Bollywood fraternity from Shah Rukh Khan to Aamir Khan to Kangana Ranaut to Sonam Kapoor. However, this didn’t go down well with the South film industry.

Ram Charan’s wife Upasana Kamineni expressed her didstate about Modi for sidelining the South industry by not having noted and prominent personalities in the meet. IN her post she wrote,” Dearest @narendramodi ji. We in the South of INDIA admire you & are Proud to have you as our Prime Minister. With all due respect we felt that the representation of Leading personalities & cultural icons was limited only to Hindi Artists and the The South Film Industry was neglected. I express my feelings with pain & hope it’s taken in the right spirit. 🙏🏻 Jai Hind.” Reportedly, the only personality from the South was Dil Raju.
Upasana’s tweet questioning Modi is receiving appreciation from all quarters. Incidentally, this is not the first time that South celebrities have point out the neglection from Bollywood. Ironically, Hindi films, however, are dubbing the blockbuster Telugu movies which have also churned out well in Hindi belt. For instance, movies like Kabir Singh, Wanted, and Jersey on the cards are to name few films in the remade list.
