Story
The story is set in a small town and is based on Veerababu (Vikas Vasishta). One fine day, Veerababu finds a DSLR camera and gets excited. He decides to make a film with the camera and hires his friends from the village. What problems did Veerababu face to make the film is the basic them of the film.
Performances
The film is filled with newcomers and by the looks of it, everyone has been trained quite well. The subtle humor showcased by all actors is quite good to see. The mentalities of the small-town people have been nicely elevated in the film. The movie has an earthy feeling and there are not many instances where you get bored one bit.
Analysis
Films like Cinema Bandi have a simple story but it is the taking that wins a lot of heart. The way director Praveen chooses earthy characters and makes newcomers act is so good to see in the film. Each character makes sense and moves the story forward implicitly.
The regional accent and rural flavor were translated quite naturally in the film giving it a solid feeling to the viewer. The production design and visuals are quite arresting in the film and this makes the viewer glued to the screen. Music is good and dialogues are natural. You won’t see major twists or turns in this film as the narrative is simple.
A slight take should have been taken on the climax though. In a nutshell, Cinema Bandi has a simple story but it is told in a very refreshing manner and this itself is enough for us to watch it on this Eid holiday.
