'Dasara' might leave a hole in producers' pockets
Natural Star Nani’s upcoming movie ‘Dasara’ is one of the much-awaited movies this season. But going deep into the economics, the movie might leave a hole in the pockets of producers.

The production team of ‘Dasara’ claims that it so far incurred a cost of Rs 68 crore. But the theatrical rights in the Telugu States fetched only Rs 25 crore. As a distributor, Dil Raju bought the film for Rs 32 crore. So there are no chances of overflows as far as revenue is concerned.

Now the only hope left is the Hindi release. It would test Nani’s luck in the north. He is not a pan-India star compared to Allu Arjun and Prabhas who have already amassed massive fan presence. If at all it has to get good money, the story should be extraordinary.

Meanwhile, ‘Dasara’ went into the hands of PR film publicists who are racking tailor-made stale ideas to promote the film. So they will eat away some part of the chunk. An idea popped up to celebrate Nani’s 39th birthday on a grand scale. For this, they are planning celebrations in selected 39 centres across Telugu States.

Now the question is are they doing it to make fans meet the Natural Star or are they actually promoting the film? Either way, makers should have to shell good money to organise the fans in these 39 centres. Considering all these activities, the film is likely to leave a hole in producers’ pockets.
