Here’s why Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan didn’t get a Telugu title
The makers of the Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan recently issued a statement regarding the title of the movie’s Telugu version. The film is set to release in multiple languages on October 10, 2024, and though dubbed in Telugu, the filmmakers retained the Tamil title “Vettaiyan” with a tagline in other languages. This decision led to some confusion among fans, prompting the production company, Lyca Productions, to clarify their stance.
In their official press note, Lyca Productions explained that they initially planned to use the Telugu title Vetagadu for the dubbed version. However, due to the unavailability of the desired title and a need to maintain the essence of the original story across all versions, they decided to adopt the uniform title Vettaiyan: The Hunter for all dubbed versions of the film. The statement further elaborated that this was the best way to preserve the core meaning of the story while catering to audiences in different regions.

The film, directed by renowned filmmaker Siva, is expected to be a major success across different linguistic markets due to its universal storyline and the star power of its cast.
