Kalapuram Movie Review

Along with Liger one more film called Kalapuram was released today without any notice. Read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it or not.

Plot

Rajesh Kumar(Satyam Rajesh) is a struggling director who gets cheated by his lover. Upon this, he fails to even get a chance as a director. One fine day, a person dupes him to be a producer and brings to a village called Kalapuram to make a film. But Rajesh gets into issues with cops. He is stuck in the village and has to make a film there with so many issues. How he did that is the story of Kalapuram.

Performances

Satyam Rajesh is the only man who makes some sense in this film. He gives a very sincere performance as a struggling director and is impressive with his antics. Chitram Sreenu and others also get decent roles and do well. The man who played the cheating producer was good in his role.

Analysis

Director Karuna Kumar won a good applause for his work in Palasa. He also directed Sridevi Soda Center in a decent manner. So, as his third film, he has tried a fun subject and one can say that he has fallen flat with his execution which is silly and over the top.

The story is ages old and has absolutely no novelty factor in it. A struggling director falling for a girl, cheating on him has been shown in so many films already. The manner in which the emotions take a backseat is the biggest drawback of the film. There is a big twist at the end and even that is not handled properly.

There was also scope for good comedy but that has also not been used well. Mani Sharma has scored the music and it is ordinary. In a way, Kalapuram is a dull village drama that is spoiled by silly execution. There is nothing worth it for the audience to go watch the film in theaters.

Bottom Line – Take it easy
