Plot

Siva(Santosh Soban) is a jobless youth who is forced to marry his girlfriend Shruthi(Priya Bhavani Shankar). At first, things look very good but as time passes by, Shruthi starts nagging Siva to get a job. To get away from her torcher, Siva joins as a cab driver and lies to his wife. When she comes to know the truth, hell breaks loose and the couple breaks up. How did they get back forms the rest of the story?

Performances

Santosh Shoban is a very talented actor and he proves it once again with this film. He as the subdued husband was impressive in the film. Santosh is good with the emotional part and holds the film. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead and is not that great. For some reason, her role and performance do not create that kind of an impact. She looks weak as the heroine. Saddam as the sidekick is quite good.

What’s Good

Santosh Soban
Family scenes

What’s Bad

Old Storyline
Routine Narration
Dull climax

Analysis

Kalyanam Kamaneeyan is a modern-day relationship drama between a couple. While the wife is superior, the husband is jobless. This story has been dealt with earlier in the Hindi film Ki and Ka. The moment you get into the crux of this film, all that you get reminded of are Ki and Ka. Such is the premise of the film.

Music by Shravan Bhardwaj is good and his BGM was neat. The runtime is also thankfully less and the dialogues are praiseworthy. The production design is amazing as the Hyd IT sector is shown superbly by the DOP. The rest of the technical aspects are fine with this film.

But where does this film falter then? It has been directed by Anil Kumar and looks like a short film that has been just extended into a film. The proceedings are not that boring but still, they do not create any effect on you. Such is the dull emotional track in the film. There are ego issues that are silly. A small issue is dragged on for no reason and makes the audience yawn in multiple areas. Such is the feel of this boring drama.

Bottom Line – A boring, outdated family drama

2.5/5
