Superstar Rajinikanth, the iconic actor known for his larger-than-life presence on the big screen, is set to make a stunning return with Lal Salaam, hitting theaters on February 9. Following the tremendous success of Jailer in the previous year, anticipation surrounds this latest theatrical venture, especially considering the character’s departure from Rajinikanth’s typical commercial roles.

The 73-year-old actor, a revered figure in Indian cinema, boasts a massive fan base both in Tamil Nadu and across the nation. Despite the limited release of his last film, Jailer, it emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2023, accumulating over 600 crores worldwide.

Ahead of Laal Salaam release, now he is making headlines for his remuneration. Rajinikanth’s remuneration for Lal Salaam has now become a focal point of discussion. Renowned for his hefty paychecks, the actor is reported to have charged a staggering 40 crores for his extended cameo, spanning approximately 30-40 minutes of screen time. This translates to an unprecedented 1 crore per minute, showcasing the unmatched popularity and demand for the legendary actor.

While the astronomical sum may seem unbelievable, it underscores the immense buzz Lal Salaam has generated ahead of its release, primarily fueled by Rajinikanth’s presence. The film not only marks the return of Rajinikanth’s eldest daughter, Aishwarya Rajinikanth, after a hiatus of nine years but also features Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in key roles. The musical score is crafted by the maestro AR Rahman, with Lyca Productions backing the project, and distribution handled by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies.
