Needa Movie Review

AHA is buying the dubbing rights of multiple Malayalam films and is throwing at us in regular interviews. Their latest film is Needa that has Nayanthara as the heroine. Let’s see if the film has any juice in it or not.

Plot

Nayanthara lives with her eight-year-old son who tells crime stories to his classmates. One fine day, an off-duty magistrate(Kunchacko Boban) comes to know that the stories narrated are having connections to real life. So, he himself starts an investigation with the help of the boy and unravels the mystery.

Performances

Kunchacko Boban is the main guy in this film and his acting is impressive. The manner in which he starts the investigation and doubts many in the process has been showcased well by the noted actor. Nayanthara also gets a good role and she is also impressive. She emotes with her eyes and gives depth to the film. The little boy who played Nithin is also decent.

Analysis

The film is a thriller and is started well in the beginning. The manner in which the boy tell stories and how they are connected to real life is also shown so well. The film has a good pace and all the thrills work well for the audience.

The theme and feel of the film give a curiosity factor for the audience but at the end that is spoilt by some silly narration and climax which does not work for us as it looks way too forced. Nayanthara is sidelined after a while and this looks a bit odd in the story.

The film has decent thrills but a better narration could have made things tick. But that does not happen and you leave with a feeling that something is still missing in this thriller.

Bottom Line- Half Baked Thriller
