Article 370 was revoked on Monday, August 5 by the government making Jammu and Kasmir into two union territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. While the Centre had found backing from Arvind Kejriwal and YSRCP and TDP among others, the BJP also found outrage from NC and PDP. “The president on the recommendation of Parliament is pleased to declare as from 5th of August 2019, all clauses of the said Article 370 shall cease to be operative… ,” stated Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who moved a resolution in the Rajya Sabha that Article 370.
