Leaving as a big shock to the entire film fraternity, Bollywood veteran actor Om Puri has passed away this morning in Mumbai. Aged 66, Om Puri suffered a massive heart attack this morning at his residence. Whole Bollywood is a deep shock with the sudden demise of legendary actor. A close friend of him and a filmmaker, Ashok Pandit confirmed the news through his twitter handle.
Born in a Punjabi family in Ambala, Haryana, Ompuri is an alumnus of both National School of Drama and Film and Television Institute of India. He was one of the front faces for art or parallel films during the 70s and 80s. He also acted in Pakistani and Hollywood films. His notable works include Bhavni Bhavai, Ardh Satya and Mirch Masala. He was also the recipient of Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honor of India.
