Pakistani actors’ ban in Bollywood: Bombay High Court gives a relief

Pakistani actors ban in Bollywood Bombay High Court gives a relief

The Bombay High Court has made a decision in favor of a petition that aimed to prevent Pakistani artists from working in India. The individual behind this petition was Faaiz Anwar Qureshi, who identified as a cinema worker and artist. He called for the Indian government to disallow any professional collaborations with artists from Pakistan. The petition sought to stop Indian citizens and companies from employing, seeking work from, or partnering with Pakistani cinema professionals, including actors, musicians, singers, lyricists, and technicians.

According to the report, the court rejected this request, believing that such a ban would hinder the promotion of cultural harmony.

The court stated, “A true patriot is someone who is selfless and dedicated to their country, and they can only be so if they have a good heart. A person with a good heart would welcome activities that promote peace, harmony, and tranquility within the country and across borders.” The court emphasized that being a patriot does not require harboring hostility toward people from other countries, especially neighboring ones.

The judges stressed that activities like music, sports, culture, and dance transcend national and cultural boundaries. They also pointed out the involvement of Pakistan’s cricket team in the current World Cup in India and commended the Indian government for allowing it, as per Article 51 of the Indian Constitution, which promotes global peace and security.
