Coming from a filmy background, Abhay Deol’s journey was no mean easy. He had to carve out his own individuality and did alternative films over commercials, which have certainly helped him out in cementing his position in the industry. However, he says that he dreads about how to handle a fame. Notably, he shot to fame with Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D.
“Somewhere it is negative because I should have been around to promote my film and myself. I didn’t do that. But do I regret it? No. Because it kept me grounded. Maybe I didn’t take the advantage and become a star and get all the brands so that I could solidify my space in the world,” he said.
Now, when he looks back, he says that his perspective should have been more diffrent in handling it. “The reaction to ‘Dev D’ success wasn’t a balanced one from my end. I ran away! I should have stayed around and seen how I could balance things. But I wasn’t capable of that. That’s my background,” he said. He also adds that despite having carved out an individuality for himself, people don’t want to invest in him
Apart from aletrenative films, he went on to do commerical films starring in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Happy Bhaag Jayegi and now he will be seen in “Nanu Ki Jaanu whihc will be out on April 20.
