Game of Thrones vet Sophie Turner has officially signed on to join their forthcoming dark comedy movie Strangers, which will be led by Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) and Camila Mendes (Riverdale). Further details about her character are still being kept under wraps, but she is expected to appear for a cameo role. This marks the X-Men star’s first project with the streamer and her first movie role in nearly two years since starring in 2019’s Dark Phoenix.

Turner has also recently been cast in HBO’s true-crime limited series The Staircase, starring opposite Colin Firth and Toni Collette. She also will also be lending her voice in HBO Max’s upcoming animated sitcom titled The Prince. Strangers is described as a subverted Hitchock-ian dark comedy featuring the scariest protagonists of all: teenage girls. The film centers around Drew (Alpha, it girl) and Eleanor (beta, alt girl) who, after a clandestine meet-cute, team up to go after each other’s bullies.

The film is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson from a screenplay she co-wrote with Celeste Ballard. Robinson is best known for directing the streamer’s popular romantic comedy pic Someone Great. She has also co-written the script for Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder, which is currently set for 2022 theatrical release.
