
As February begins, South Indian cinema has seen several exciting updates. From Prabhas’ upcoming film Spirit to Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 arriving on OTT, here are the key highlights of the week.
1. Prabhas’ ‘Spirit’ to Begin Filming in May 2025
Prabhas is set to start shooting for Spirit, an action-packed cop film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in May 2025. According to sources, the script is nearly complete, and the film is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the cop genre. Prabhas will also be seen in a leaner look for the movie.
2. ‘L2: Empuraan’ Teaser Released
The much-awaited teaser for L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, was released this week. This movie is the second part of a trilogy, acting as both a prequel and sequel to Lucifer (2019). The film features stars like Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier.
3. ‘Parasakthi’ Movie Announcement
Actor Sivakarthikeyan will star in the period political drama Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara. Initially planned with Suriya under the title Puranaanooru, the project has now been revamped. The film features Ravi Mohan as the antagonist with Sreeleela and Atharvaa Murali playing crucial roles.
4. ‘Pushpa 2’ Now Streaming on Netflix
After making waves in theaters, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule is now available on Netflix from January 30, 2025. The digital release includes an extra 23 minutes of footage and is accessible in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.
