Stand up Rahul Review

Stand Up Rahul is a film that had to click at any cost as Raj Tharun has been going through a bad phase. The film is out and, read on to see if the film has any juice in it or not.

Plot

Rahul(Raj Tharun) is a youth who is attracted to Stand Up comedy. But due to family constraints, he is forced to take up a job in Hyderabad. In his office, he crosses paths with Shreya(Varsha Bollama). He falls for him but as Rahul is not ready for marriage, he ends up in a live-in relationship with Shreya. The rest of the story is as to how Rahul takes up Stand Up Comedy as his career and how he comes out of the family issues and marries her.

Performances

Raj Tharun is a talented actor and he showcases another side of his performance in this film. He as an urban youth looks the part and also plays the role of a confused youth to the best of his capabilities. But it is Varsha Bollama who gets a good role and shines. She looks endearing and holds the film with her warmth. Indra makes a comeback and is neat in her poised role. Murali Sharma only plays second fiddle to Indraja and has nothing much to do. The comedian Chowdary creates a few laughs here and there.

What’s Good

Raj Tharun’s makeover
Heroine Performance
Setup

What’s bad

Routine narration
lack of depth in emotions
A dull and simple ending

Analysis

Love stories that have coming of age theme are one and the same. The setup gets changed and the same happens once again here. The director Santo used stand-up comedy as the dream of the hero but does not establish this track well. The film is started well and the family issues are brought out well. But from there, the film goes down.

The romance is totally missing in the film. Even after the lead pair enter a live-in relationship, the romance is missing. Upon this, the dull songs do not help matters much. But the loo and field of the film is handled well by the director and creates interest.

Even though the story is routine, some breezy moments like comedy should have been induced to make the audience entertained. Also, the stand-up comedy acts of Raj Tharun hardly evoke any laughs for the audience. The narration and love story is half baked and does not entertain you.

What could have been a solid rom-com is spoilt by some dull narration? Looks like Raj Tharun needs to wait for some more time to get a hit under his belt. For now, Stand UP Rahul is a missed opportunity that does not entertain at all.

Bottom- Missed opportunity
