Star hero chooses wrong time for his film release
Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar is known for his massive fan base and strong box office performance. Despite minimal promotions, his films often secure huge openings. However, his latest film, Vidaamuyarchi seems to be facing unexpected challenges.
Initially, Vidaamuyarchi was planned for a Sankranti release. However, it got delayed due to legal issues. The movie is reportedly a remake of the Hollywood film Breakdown and the original creators filed a copyright case. This legal dispute took time to settle resulting in a postponed release.
The film is now set to release in February, a month that usually sees fewer big-budget films. February is not a peak season as students are busy with exams. As a result, the film’s box office prospects might be affected. Unlike usual Ajith films, Vidaamuyarchi is not generating much buzz, and advance bookings appear to be slow.
Ajith is known for avoiding promotional events, but his previous films still attracted strong openings. This time, however, there is minimal discussion about Vidaamuyarchi on social media. Even the Telugu version, Pattudala, is not widely known among audiences, and there are no major promotional efforts in Telugu states.
Fans have compared Vidaamuyarchi’s advance bookings with Vijay’s GOAT, and the response appears dull in comparison. While Vijay’s film has generated strong pre-release excitement, Ajith’s movie is struggling to create the same level of interest.
Ajith’s films usually enjoy a solid fan following, but Vidaamuyarchi is facing several hurdles. The delayed release, lack of promotions and an off-season opening could impact its performance. With tough competition from other films, it remains to be seen whether Ajith’s star power alone can save this film at the box office.
