Telangana farmer Chintala Venkat Reddy is one of the awardees for Padma Shri. Reddy hailing from Alwal has been passionate about the farming since young age. After completing his education, he took up farming between 1979-80. He is known to be unique for his old principle of rejuvenation of topsoil for obtaining double crop production. The technique of using soil as a pesticide and nutrient made him what he is today. In fact, for the past 10-years Reddy has been a mojor contributor to the National Seed Corporation (NSC) and the Andhra Pradesh State Seed Development Corporation (APSSDC).
Reddy also has patent from counties like India, Europe, Eurasia, South Africa, Madagascar, Mexico, Philippines, Vietnam, Australia , Sri Lanka, Romania and Nigeria among others. For the uninitiated, Reddy is the brother of TRS MLA Chintala Kanaka Reddy
