Thammudu OTT release:
Nithiin’s most recent film, Thammudu, is now making its way to digital platforms in an attempt to regain some momentum following a lacklustre theatrical run. The July 4, 2025, release of the Venu Sriram-directed and Dil Raju-produced movie did not do well at the box office.
Thammudu proved to be a commercial disaster, reportedly losing close to Rs 30 crore despite some pre-release excitement. For seasoned producer Dil Raju, this has been one of his worst setbacks in a long time.
According to reports, the movie will make its Netflix debut on August 1, 2025, putting it back in the spotlight. Fans are excited to watch the movie online, but the producers or streaming behemoth have not yet made an official announcement.
Sapthami Gowda, Laya, Varsha Bollamma, Saurabh Sachdeva, Swasika, Hari Teja, Srikanth Iyyengar, Temper Vamshi, and Chammak Chandra are among the ensemble cast members of Thammudu. The film’s lacklustre reception was partly caused by B. Ajaneesh Loknath’s music, which also didn’t connect with viewers.
The non-theatrical rights to the movie, however, have partially recovered the investment and provided some respite for the producers.
Nithiin and Dil Raju are still working together despite the setback. Venu Yeldandi of Balagam fame will direct their next project, Yellamma. Production is scheduled to start shortly, and Keerthy Suresh will play the female lead in the project.
Away from the constraints of the box office, viewers will have the opportunity to rewatch Thammudu and make their judgment as it prepares for its OTT debut.
