There have always been allegations that the awards functions galore organized in the film industry is just a hogwash. It is an “I scratch your back, you scratch my back’ exercise. But, more than that such functions are huge money spinners. Holding these functions involved huge money and the organizers are said to rake in big-time moolah. The film Utsavs and award functions are star-studded affairs and are held in glitzy star hotels. The organizers get sponsors and make huge amounts through this whole exercise.
Recent allegations against one such person who organizes filmi award functions for the last three days are indicative of the big stakes involved in the biz. Now that the person is exposed, he is looking for other means to organize such functions. But, the sponsors are said to be in two minds. In fact, several senior film industry functionaries are scoffing at such functions, They are questioning at the way the functions are organized and the way the awards are being given.
Recently, a film industry celebrity said that those who institute awards should not stop midway. They must keep continuing to organize the functions regularly. Some say the organizers get very little at the end of the day. They do not really make much money as they have to spend on the accommodation and expenses of the stars. The event itself costs a fortune. So at the end of the day, they have very little money in their pockets. The debate continues and the jury is out on the issue.
