Plot
The film as the title suggests is set in the year 2018 when the floods create havoc in the state of Kerala. The film is about various characters and how they turn out to be unsung heroes and survive this crazy natural calamity. The film stars Tovino Thomas, Lal, Vineeth Srinivasan, and Kalayirasan in lead roles.
Performances
Tovino Thomas is amazing in the film. His character arc from a coward to a brave man is showcased in a very nice man. Lal as the fisherman was very good in his role. Narain and Kalayirasan are solid in their supporting roles. The rest of the cast have also done well in their respective roles and bring depth to the film.

Analysis
2018 is about human emotions and how one act of God changes things for everyone. So, what drives the film is the solid narrative which is filled with gritty emotions and solid performances. The narrative is such that one does not get deviated from the main plot even though it does not have much of twists.
The intro of characters is done at a slow pace and there is some confusion as well but things get clear in the second half and what you see are heartfelt emotions that strike a chord with the audience. The realistic nature of the film also creates a good impact on the audience.
Jude Anthany Joseph should be commended for filming a realistic story that showcases the fears of different individuals and their ultimate decision to stand up for their fellow humans during a natural calamity.
The film has amazing visuals solid BGM, and great dubbing in Telugu. The VFX used is also amazing. If you are bored of watching regular commercial drama, give 2018 a shot, it will move you and impress you big time.
