Plot

Anand(Anand Deverakonda) and Viashnavi(Vaishnavi Chaitanya) are a couple who are in love from a very young age. While Anand discontinues his studies and ends up as an auto driver, Vaishnavi passes her plus two and joins a fancy engineering college. Things change drastically with the entry of Viraj(Viraj Ashwin) and Vaishnavi gets attracted to him big time. The rest of the story is about whom Vaishnavi chooses in the end.

Performances

Baby is based on only three characters and the performances in this film are just amazing. The manner in which each of the characters holds the show is terrific. Anand Deverakonda shocks you with his impressive act. He as the man who is deeply in love has given a solid performance. Anand is a very improved actor and he shows it in all the emotional scenes. Viraj Ashwin plays the handsome hunk and does his part well. He also gets to emote in the climax and the young actor holds the attention quite well. But the star of the film is debutante Vaishnavi Chaitanya. She as the girl who dates two men gave a bold performance and her character will be remembered for a long time to come. She will be a big star after this film.

Analysis

Baby is directed by Sai Rajesh and he has done a terrific job with the film. He has narrated this triangular love story in a hard-hitting manner without beating around the bush. How girls are two timing guys and what issues they go through have been showcased superbly in the film. The first half is about young love and how a simple girl gets attracted to the cosmopolitan culture is nicely elevated.

The interval bang is the best part of the film and has been narrated in a solid manner. The second half has some bold moments and one conversation where the hero calls the heroine a whore and how she gives it back is showcased superbly. The film has some neatly etched family emotions which have been showcased well. The second half is filled with solid drama and the heartbreak scenes will connect big time with the youth.

The manner in which the climax is dragged for no reason looks a bit dull. The music of the film is superb as all the songs have been placed superbly. Editing should have been crisp in the second half but the visuals and love-making scenes have been showcased in a sensuous manner. Also, the film is filled with bold dialogues but they do not seem to be dragged.

In a way, Baby is a well-made film and is relatable to what is happening in society. The youth will love it and credit should go to Sai Rajesh for showcasing the film in such an honest manner and the film ends as a very good watch. Go for it.

Bottom Line – Hard-Hitting Love Story

3.25/5
