Samantha put her heart and soul into Shaakuntalam and shot for it even after falling sick. The film is a period drama and the moment the trailer was out, the negative vibe started out right away.
If that was not enough, Dil Raju the producer, held special shows and made things worse as the word of mouth that the film is bad came out in no time. Now that the film has been released, the film is not performing one bit.
The multiplexes had some collections but that is not the case with the other theaters India-wide. The audience has rejected this film which has tacky VFX and also bad 3D.
It lacked proper emotions and did not have any new story to tell. The makers will lose big money and Gunasekhar is going to bear the brunt. We need to see what will Gunasekhar do now.
